[There are only two things written on an otherwise blank sheet of paper: a single line of text in the middle and a two-word prompt in the bottom right corner.]
Why did the pirate go to the Caribbean? (Turn over -->)
[The little arrow compels you! Do it, do it!]
He wanted some arr & arr!
You probably noticed that things kind of got turned on their heads around here recently. If you somehow managed to miss the reveal, I would go ask a friend about what happened as soon as you're done reading this. Perhaps even before. I don't know how long you've been here, so I don't know if you are used to to the fact that things tend to suck big time around here 9/10 times. But I didn't send you this to talk about how terrible everything is. More like the exact opposite is true.
I don't know who you are, and to tell you the truth: I picked your mailbox at random (Maybe you should try playing slots some time.) But I sent you this letter to tell you not to give up. I know learning the truth made everything look pretty hopeless right now. But I promise you that this isn't the end. The truth is always better than a lie, even if the lie is the prettier of the two. I am not psychic so I have no idea if the end will be in a year like Ruana claims or if we will reach it sooner. But I do know this: if at any point you give up, you will never make it that far. Game over. Things won't go the way she wants, because we can come up with a much better ending than than the garbage she has written.
Everything is going to be ok. So don't lose hope, don't give up, and most importantly: don't forget how to smile.
Ryoji informed me that you were looking for some training. I am going to be holding a training session tomorrow on the upper forest floor. You are very welcome to attend if you wish to learn to fight without your Personas.
[A shoebox diorama, in which small figures of his friends move about and engage Shadows in battle. They are defeated each time and their deaths grow more bloody and more violent as the scenes continue to reset.]

[There's a carefully-sewn rectangular bag made of the low-quality material that the tower's workshop provides. It can hold about six small-to-medium items. In it is a note on folded parchment.]
Thank you for your advice, information, and kindness to a newcomer. I hope that this will be of some use to you.
My uncle told me to invite my friends up to the meadow floor on the 19th. Do you want to come? I think it's to do with my birthday, but either way it should be fun.

It's not a matter of great importance however, so don't worry about that.
